left holding the baby again!

Went to the 2nd game of the season, got soaked in a sudden downpour, watched our team (Brisbane Wolves) come back from 3-1 down to finally draw 3-3 and then won the raffle. A bottle of Jim Beam and ten dollars! not bad! I don't like to leave Australia until the Wolves win a game .
Tomorrow is Sonia's birthday so we are going to the country club tonight to celebrate. I do hope nobody gets drunk and disgraces themselves!
We fly home a week today, (sob sob,) I do hope the weather in England will be improved somewhat by then as I am too old to be coping with all these temperature changes..
Time for my swim now. 30 lengths before I get out all exhausted!

sunset over Bribie

We have just returned from Sunday lunch at the Blue Anchorage in Bongaree. I was so hot that I had to swim and then this was the sunset. The photo doesn't do it justice,

casino night

For the past few days we have had, first two American footballers and then an Irish
lad, staying at the house. We have enjoyed showing them around etc but they have now gone to live in Brisbane at the "house of trousers". On Saturday we met up with them again at the casino night which was a fund raiser for Sams football club. A good time was had by all but one person who shall remain nameless, got drunk and was sick from the car window. Unfortunately the sick blew back onto the Irish lad. he took it in good part and we washed his clothes for him the next day! (he's the one in the purple shirt)It was a profitable night for our mob. Michael won a sat nav.Drew (one of the americans, White t.shirt) won $200 and some speakers for an Ipod and Keith the Irish lad won a mobile phone.
I have just been to the doctors because the pain in my hip is worse then ever. He says it's Bursitis and has prescribed some tablets .Lets hope they work. The consultation will cost $60 . more later

Lottery win!

This morning Graham and I went to Ningy so that I could go to the dollar shop.Good job we did because I found some tape that Sonia and I have been searching for. Whilst there I thought I would check my lottery ticket and surprise!! I had won 36 dollars and 30 cents!! To celebrate we went as S&M to the RSL club where I won two half price meals and two entrys into a raffle for a camper van. so if S&M win it I want half!!! Then I won $2 dollars on the keno.
S&S have just come back from Ikea with two bar chairs. After spending about two hours putting one together they have decided that they are too big and so will have to go back for a smaller size!

Car keys?

Yesterday was hectic. First we went to lunch at my nephews country club. Very nice. Then we drove to the other side of Brisbane, about two hours through the rush hour traffic,to watch his team, Brisbane Wolves, play the top team in the league. They lost on penalties 5/4 in the end.Whilst all this was going on we had dinner and played Keno. I won two dollars. Then we drove home at midnight. A long day for oldies like us!
Today we have done a bit of shopping and I am making pizza for dinner. S&M are having a good time in N.Z. It's very quiet without them.

Brisbane

We had a spectacular day yesterday which involved going through Brisbane on a catamaran. I was amazed at how much of the city you can see from the river and it helped that my nephew is very knowledgeable about the city and it's origens, having spent alot of time there.
On the South bank we had lunch in a riverside restaurant before going to my nephews football club where we ate dinner and watched the football training. Once we arrived home there was much imbibing of alcohol before we collapsed into bed.photos to follow.

dentist

As I said yesterday, I don't have much luck with dentists. Well my luck has changed. Yesterday I had the best dental experience of my life! I had x-rays, injections, part tooth removal and fillings and never felt a thing. They were so kind and courteous that I thought I had come to the wrong place or they were going to make me take out a mortgage to pay. It was very cheap at around £50.00. I think it would probably be worth the cost of flights to Australia to come and have dental work done!
S&M have gone to New Zealand so graham and I are home alone. My nephew says he might take us somewhere but he is very busy.
I have made lamb stew for dinner tonight. There is only so much salad one can eat.
more later.

new barbeque

Yesterday, being sunday and rainy. I asked sandra to cook a Sunday dinner. She did and it was marvelous. S&S went out and bought a new barbeque,It took four people at least four hours to put it together. it's rather splendid and I am determined to have one when we get back to England.
The rain still persists. It's the tail end of cyclone "Olga" but it's still warm.
One of my teeth has disintegrated and I have an appointment with a local dentist tomorrow. They have phoned me twice to change my appointment so I don't know what they will be like. I don't seem to have much luck with dentist in England either!
Graham has gone with my nephew to work. That should keep him out of mischief for a couple of days.
S&M go to new Zealand the day after tomorrow so it will be quiet.
Nothing else to report.
