millionaires shortbread.

What a faff!! And so expensive to make. But thats not the worst of it.Graham has decided to go back on his no chocolate No migraine diet and is refusing to eat any! I am supposed to be on a sugar free diet but had to try some didn't I? It won't freeze so it looks as though the neighbours will be getting it!
weather gorgeous but the football is on soon (Liverpool V Everton ) so we will be settling down to watch it.

It's always a sure sign that we need to put the clocks forward when daffodils are nodding in the breeze.

Pizza's for dinner

The weather has been dull, rainy and gloomy all day, so comfort food was called for! I was going to make Sandra's chocolate brownies but didn't have any chocolate and couldn't be bothered to go to the shops! Maybe tomorrow.

the same view

The same view of the little house on the prairie, 2 days later.

Wednesday 26 March 2008

good god!!

I have just finished watching the England V France game. What a load of old tosh!! I thought this Italian bloke was supposed to bring us back to winning ways. We were worse then ever!

We went for a walk on the sea front earlier. Very cold but bright. At least the snow has gone. I have put a photo on the blog that shows why we call ourselves "The little house on the prairie"

nothing much happening so more later.

What a week!

Just realised that I haven't really blogged for ages. It seems so easy just to put the pictures on. Maybe I should start a pictorial blog. Last Saturday was the hot supper at the village hall. that was good.Monday was my second visit to the doctors. My blood sugar is still sky high so I am on a strict regime and increasing my insulin by increments. Monday evening was the W.I AGM at which I was given loads of moneys and cheques and told to sort it in my new role as treasurer.
Thursday was the funeral of an elderly W.I member. Several car loads of us went to a distant village for the church service. Because one of our car passengers was in dispute with the womans son we didn't get to the funeral tea which was held in the pub near the church. that was a pity 'cos I like to get all the gossip.Friday Sonia and Michael came and we have been busy doing nothing and thoroughly enjoying it. Michael makes me laugh how he pretends to defer to Sonia all the time. Not at all like Graham and me.!!
Not much more to report. I have got to prepare the lunch which will be at 1pm and then we can settle down to watch Man U. v Liverpool

And now the ghastly aftermath!

Tired after last nights shenanigans. So we didn't get up until 9.30am. Then we had a row because every day Graham stands next to the toaster, gazing out of the window whilst the toast burns at his elbow!! Gina, I am beginning to turn into Mrs Judge! (she knows who I mean!)
Phone call from sister suzanna, she is ok but still no contact with Pat.
Thats all for now. I'm off to make another cake.

Failure cake!

Thought you might like to see this cake that I made this morning. As I was taking it out of the tin it fell to bits!! looks like we will have to use it as a pudding with custard.

Wonderful news!

Just caught the news in which a nine year old girl has been found alive and well after being missing for 24 days! It's so wonderful!
Recovering nicely from my committee dinner. It was very nice and the food was excellent. I was given a lovely plant for being treasurer and the president gave us all a photo frame.
Yesterday I was inaugerated as treasurer and given all the bank books etc. God knows what a mess I will probably make of it. Good job it's not thousands!
Have booked a body shop night for 23rd June. I hope it makes a lot of money.
Tomorrow is the hot supper otherwise nothing else to report. sonia and michael will be here next weekend Yippee!!

poor thing!

I have just had a look at the latest homelyyear blog. Poor little cow.
Yesterday I went for a hair cut. I asked him to cut it really short because I am fed up of this colour. He said he liked the colour but he gave me a nice cut anyway. Attempted to do the big pile of ironing but kept getting interupted. First it was about 4 phone calls and then the neighbours came and I had to stop for a chat as Graham was out bowling.
Made a big pan of meatballs and froze half of them for another day.
Have been awake half the night with the noise of the gale. While laid awake you have to worry about things don't you?
Graham has just been in the dyke attempting to sprag up a fence that is blowing about in the wind. He was frightened to death by a pheasant flying up and squawking right under his feet!!
Tonight I am out on a committee dinner at a pub in a nearby village. It used to be owned by an ex Sheffield Wednesday player but he has gone now. Don't know what the food will be like now. more on this tomorrow.

football !

Today we have been mainly watching football (as they say on the fast show) We are now on our third match. I want to watch "Larkrise to Candleford" after this and it will have been a good day.
The weather men are scaring me to death with their forecast for tomorrow. It's supposed to be the worst wind this century and they are telling us to batten down the hatches!
Graham has just had a choking fit. Probably a cake crumb!
Apart from that nothing of note.

Almond tart

We are having dinner at lunchtime today so that we are free to watch football this afternoon. So the dessert will have to be bakewell tart and custard. Yesterday was a good day football wise and I am so happy for Barnsley!
The coffee morning went very well and the W.I raised £59 towards buying the special W.I. cups and saucers. Mary sue would like them but they are so expensive that I will never dare to volunteer to wash up in case I break any!! I won a "green" shopping back which is handy as nearly all the supermarkets are going to stop supplying carrier bags. MarySue may have been right when she suggested selling them!
Doctors tomorrow to be given a lecture about getting my weight down. I wouldn't mind so much if the nurse giving me the lecture was sylph like but she isn't.

Raspberry maltesers

The diet has gone by the wayside since I opened a packet of Belgian chocolate that are like Maltesers only the middles are freeze dried raspberries. absolutely georgeous!!
Not a lot has happened today. Went into Mablethorpe and tried a few dresses on before deciding that I couldn't afford to buy anything so I bought these chocolates instead. I have got two dinners next week and nothing to wear!By the time I have eaten all these chocolates the clothes that I already have will not fit me. Oh well!

no cake today!

No cake today, you will have to make do with bread and nut bars. I am going to be busy tomorrow so won't have time to bake. I am doing the W.I. stall at the coffee morning.

Village Broccoli

Village Broccoli...... as approved by my nieces sons, Bradley and Niall. It's such a short season that I have bought a lot so that I can freeze some. I steam it for a little while then fry it in Butter and Garlic.( yes I know it's fattening but its so delicious!

And so!

Late night at the fashion show. It all went very well and the young lad who's off to shri lanka is about £300 nearer his target.
This morning I am off to the doctors to have my fasting blood sugars done. This means I can't have anything to eat until about 10 am. I am hungry just thinking about it. I have been on a slight diet since coming back from the U.S and have lost a few pounds but I am really trying to get my blood sugars down as they were sky high in America.
It's very cold but sunny here.
