wrong decision!

Not having had oysters for about four years I decided to give them another chance . I have been violently ill the last twice I have had them but I thought my body would have forgotten the horror that is sitting on the loo with poison coming out of both ends. To be fair the others all tried to dissuade me but I wouldn't listen. Wrong decision!!! So it has been like a farce all night, graham has slept in the living room and to top it all we had a mini hurricane which Pete the owner came to warn us about last night. Also matters were not helped by the fact that drinks were two for one next door! Anyway apart from feeling that someone has punched me in the kidneys I am now fully recovered.
Only today and tomorrow before we go home. Fortunately Gina helped me to finish the impossible jigsaw otherwise I couldn't have finished it.Possibly the hardest I have ever done.
Yesterday Pete found a giant Iguana in the grass and he and Graham and Andrew tried to catch it. Pete says that they are not indigenous to Florida and it must be somebody's pet that they have released into the wild. All I can say was that me and Gina had such a laugh watching three grown men run away whenever it came near them! Anyway it got away so Graham went to the shop and bought a fluffy toy one which he put in a shoe box then gave it to Pete saying that we had caught it.

time flies

I didn't realise how long it had been since I blogged. However there doesn't seem to be anything happening that's worth blogging about. We have been here for nearly two weeks and it has gone by in a haze, due in part, I'm sure,to the amount of medication I am taking for my hip. It is so much better now though and seems to be hurting less every day.
The weather has been very changeable and this morning it is thick fog but it's supposed to get very hot for when G & A get here.
We have been eating out most days and have discovered places that have always been there but we haven't ever been in them. Beverleys is wonderful for breakfast and lunch, and P.Js for dinner although both of them are a drive away!
Peter, our owner has been watching me do a jigsaw that I found in the library. 500 pieces and I found it very hard. I finished it yesterday and so he brought me another one. 1000 pieces and supposedly so hard that no one can do it! we shall see.
I forgot to say.We have been here two weeks and haven't been to the beach yet! Graham say's that walking on sand will make my hip worse so we are not going to bother.
I expect life will be more exciting when G & A get here, it will certainly be more noisy!
More later, Sheila xx

last night

Last night we dined in a more upmarket restaurant. We still sat and ate at the bar but we got to talk to two forensic scientists, one specialised in fingerprints and the other in bullets and firearms. Boy, you can learn a lot whilst eating " u peel 'em " shrimps! We also talked to a woman who was into house swaps. She lives in Connecticut and has been all over England
I watched the barmaid making a Pina Colada and decided I had to have one! Big mistake !
Still, it made me sleep.
By the way we now don't need to go to bed until 9pm. A big improvement!

FLA.

Here we are again in the good old USA. My hip has been very bad, due I'm sure to the long flight and sitting for 10 hours on a plane. After two days of agony I decided to spend today resting.I also spent $30 dollars on some Glucosamine, and Margaret the bungalow owner gave me an icepack which seems to have helped.
For the second night running we have been to Woodies bar and enjoyed ourselves mixing with the "trailer park trash" Tonight's clientele was a bit more upmarket. Two policemen from Chicago!
Can't wait for G and A to get here we can introduce them to life on the underside!

argh!!!!

Today after a month of agony with a bursitis hip I have finally had a cortisone injection. At the moment the pain is worse then ever but the doctor said that would happen. I have been taking anti inflamitary tablets and the doctor has increased the dosage for me to take in Florida. Hopefully I shall be painfree whilst I am away!
The met office is predicting snow this weekend so now we have something else to worry about. We are meant to be calling at Sheffield on the way to Preston but now we will have to be prepared to forget plans to visit my sister for Sunday lunch and just get over the pennines as best we can.
We have just had a phone call from Virgin Atlantic to ask us if we would like to upgrade for £240 each. needless to say we declined!

packing!

Packing is underway and I am determined not to overpack this year. However there are still 13 days in which I can discard further. Hopefully the weather in Florida will be hot so that we can live in shorts and tea shirts. Oh how I long for some warm sun!
