Your bush is a ceonanthus (American lilac) that I said I so loved. There was one at the entrance of one of the hospital buildings where I worked and the gardeners had trained it to grow upwards. It was massive and looked stunning when in flower.
Growing up, we had lilac bushes. The fragrance is unbelievable, just the right depth of wild sweetness - never overbearing. It's always good to have a lilac bush just outside a window. Your bush looks really healthy.
