dry river

This is what the Gascoyne river looked like this time last year. Now it's up past the top of the measure.
I hope our relatives in Carnarvon and particularly in Brisbane are safe and well

Long time

It seems like a long time since I posted anything. I am just so busy, although doing what I couldn't tell you!
Woke up this morning to a light smattering of snow which was a surprise and it's bitterly cold. I long to be in Florida, not long now and we are delighted that Gina has decided to join us for a few days.
I have been looking at some web sites to decide what kinds of chickens to have on my return home. There are a bewildering array of breeds but I think I might get some Black Marens whose eggs are a dark chocolate brown, and some blubells, both are said to be prolific layers so that will be good. I really miss having fresh free range eggs. The garden is desolate without chickens. Even my neighbour commented that it didn't seem right without the hens.
Several of my relatives are ill with flu type symptoms. I hope they all get well soon.

shortbread

As the new year is important to the Scots I thought I would make some Shortbread. It's such an easy recipe.

4oz plain flour
4oz butter
2oz cornflour
2oz icing sugar

mix until it comes together. Roll. cut into shapes and bake in a medium oven until golden brown.

Happy new year to all my family and friends wherever you may be. Sheila x
